INTERNATIONAL ORDER OF
 THE BLUE GAVEL

What is The Order of the Blue Gavel?
The IOBG is a world-wide organization consisting of over 4000 Past Commodores of qualified yacht clubs.  The organization strives to preserve the proven traditions, customs, and ethics of yachting.  The IOBG Humanitarian Foundation supports youth sailing, safe boating, special handicap events and other educational programs.  As mentors, their members also contribute limitless support to clubs regarding organization, finance, and other yachting topics.  Interested Past Commodores are invited to reference the IOBG web site http://www.iobg.org/ for further information.

Membership
Tower Harbour Yacht Club (THYC) was privileged to receive a chapter charter from the International Order of the Blue Gavel (IOBG) in 2008.  Tower Harbour Yacht Club has the only active chapter of the IOBG in southwestern Michigan. Past Commodores in the area interested in joining the International Order of the Blue Gavel can join through our chapter in anticipation of forming a chapter in their own club.  For further information contact:  IOBG District 23 President P/C Robert Sapita at: RobertSapita@THYC.org  You are most cordially invited to join this prestigious boating organization.

Nautical Flag Etiquette
In keeping with the IOBG charter of preserving yachting traditions, an IOBG member at THYC has developed a 45 minute presentation on the topic of flag etiquette.  Any yacht club in the area interested in having this presentation made to its membership should contact P/C Robert Sapita at: RobertSapita@THYC.org
